POWEREX includes Network editor
to enter your network data and save it or open saved network to use it in Short Circuit, Network
Draw and Impedance Scan programs which are included in POWEREX. POWEREX includes
also Transmission Lines, Capacitors, Filters and Cables programs.
The program
accepts all types of components (
Utility, Generators, 2 and 3-winding transformers, Lines, Switches, Motors,
Filters, Capacitors, etc)
Short
Circuit
Solve Short
Circuit problems.
Circuit
Drawer
A single –
line diagram for your network.
Impedance
Scan
Capacitors
and filters installation in industrial and distribution networks lead to series
and parallel resonance at some harmonic frequencies. The program predicts these
resonance frequencies. All what you need is to tell the program all the data
about the construction of your network (Entered in Network Program) and the busbar under study. The program
will give you an impedance scan curve (variation of bus input impedance with
frequency). Very low impedance means series resonance whilst very high
impedance means parallel resonance at that busbar.
This program
can do the following :
Calculation
of line inductance and capacitance for any type of conductors (solid, stranded,
bundled), and any network configuration (single-phase or three-phase,
single-circuit or double-circuit).
Calculation
of line parameters ( A-B-C-D parameters) for short, medium and exact solutions.
Line
performance, line efficiency, and line regulation for any specified load.
Capacitors
This program
can be used for both individual and group power factor corrections. It has the
ability to :
Evaluate the
capacitor rating in “kvar” to improve the power factor from cos f1 to cos f2 , tak into account the effect of both
voltage “network” and current “load” harmonics. It calculates the energizing
inrush current for both single and back-to-back connections, hence it evaluates
the value of damping reactor used to limit the capacitor inrush currents.
Note : All
design procedures are carried out according to IEC and IEEE standards.
Shunt filters are the simplest and most economical method for elimination of harmonic currents caused by nonlinear loads. A series R-L-C filter is connected in parallel with the harmonic generating load. The filter is tuned on the required harmonic.
In order to
get proper filter design, some data must be known. The program is fed with data
and hence gives the values of filter parameters and filter duties according to IEEE 519-1992 Standard.
Most Cable manufacturers issue catalogues which contain rating for cables which they supply. However, these ratings are based on certain standard conditions such as :
·
Conductor
material, copper or aluminum.
·
Core
construction, single ore three core.
·
Insulation
material, PVC or XLPE.
·
Method of
installation, in air or in ground, direct buried or in ducts.
·
Surrounding
ambient temperature.
·
Soil
thermal restivity.
·
Depth of
laying.
·
Method of
cable grouping
The program
takes into account these previous factors and determines the suitable cross
section area of the cable.
